COVID-19: Trump Threatens WHO, Blames China In New Letter

United States President Donald Trump has sent a letter to the World Health Organisation WHO, blaming the organisation for its approach in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trump took to Twitter to share the letter written to the WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, dated 18th May.

As seen in the letter, the US President alleged that WHO did not share information about the pandemic with the rest of the world as soon as possible and ignored the credible reports of the virus spreading

He further alleged that China did not inform the WHO of Wuhan’s several cases of pneumonia until 31st of December 2019, as against the International Health Regulation requirement for countries to report risk of health in 24hours.

He then concluded that the WHO’s approach to the pandemic has been more costly for the world, adding that the only way out is for the organisation to work and act independent on China.

He further threatened to freeze the the United States funding of the health organisation temporarily if it doesn’t provide a substantive improvement within 30 days.
