The women’s national women basketball team from Nigeria fell to their United States counterparts on Sunday.
1st News reports that the match was an exhibition game ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
The team from Nigeria lost 92-62 in the game played in Las Vegas. In the game arranged to prepare both sides for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, the Americans were totally dominant of D’Tigress; as the female national women’s basketball team are called.
The United States team restricted D’Tigress to just 30.6 percent shooting during the game; while their opponents shot 53.8 percent overall.
Furthermore, the American side also outscored Nigeria in all four quarters of the game; though only by one point in the third quarter.

Atonye Nyingifa led the scoring charts for Nigeria with nine points. Also, centre Elizabeth Williams scored four points.
Both teams will meet again very soon, in the group stage of the Olympics in Tokyo on July 27.
Meanwhile, Williams and Nneka Ogwumike are facing a race against time to get clearance to play for Nigeria at the Olympics. Both players had dragged the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over the refusal of the federation to clear them.
FIBA had based its decision on the fact that both of them had played for the US for too long.
Meanwhile, they had been cleared by US basketball to represent Nigeria; after paying an administration charge of $10,000.
