Yakubu Dati, the Chief of Staff to the Director General, All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Simon Lalong, has accused a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara of exhibiting selfishness and causing crisis in the APC.
Naija News recalls that Dogara, while Speaking at a summit organised by the Nigerian National Christians Coalition (NNCC) in Abuja on Tuesday, said the adoption of same faith ticket by the APC was antithetical to Nigeria’s quest for nation-building.
Dati claimed that Dogara’s agitation over the Muslim-Muslim ticket was because the party’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu refused to select him as his running mate.
Dati made the allegations on Wednesday in a statement addressed to journalists.
He purported that Dogara attempted to ignite religious war since he lost the bid to be nominated as a running mate to Tinubu.
Dati argued that Dogara was not a principled man as he has changed parties more than four times at various instances to meet his personal interest.
He explained that as a former Speaker, Dogara ought to understand thoroughly the concept of nation-building, which he stated he had failed to do.
He said: ”For this, lots of people have called attention to the fact that it is only when Dogara lost the bid to be running mate to Tinubu that he suddenly realised there was something wrong with the APC and the significance of a religiously balanced ticket.
“All the while it seemed okay for Dogara to be paired with Tinubu only because he sees himself as a frontline contender for the position and nothing more.
“But Christians in Nigeria are not fooled as they know very well those who have stood for them in the past and that Dogara is not one of them as all his politics bear no such testimonies.”
Speaking further, Dati stated that Lalong has every right to be angry over Tinubu’s running mate as he had given his all to the party over the years.
