Details Of Wike’s Meeting With Rivers PDP Stakeholders Meeting Emerge

The details of the meeting between Governor Nyesom Wike of River State and leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state have emerged.

Naija News earlier reported that Governor Wike had summoned the PDP leaders and stakeholders to a meeting at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Speaking with reporters after the meeting, Wike said that he and his camp will not be leaving the party contrary to speculations on social media, adding that he will continue to fight for internal democracy.

The governor promised that his camp will ensure that the opposition PDP follows due process, stating that he will not back out of the fight to ensure inclusivity in the party.

Wike, however, wondered why the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is promising to unify Nigeria, but cannot unite the party and resolve the internal wranglings.

Planned Media Chat

Wike said he informed the party leaders and stakeholders of his plan to hold a media chat on Friday at 10 am to speak on the state of the PDP and its internal crisis.

The governor said the planned media chat is to tell his side of the story and expose the ill characters of some persons who pride themselves as national leaders.

According to Wike, Nigerians should decide if such leaders in the party are still worthy of being celebrated after watching his media chat.

Governor Wike says despite the internal crisis at the national level and a pocket of antagonism by some ungrateful PDP members in Rivers State, the party will retain all elective positions in the state.

The governor stated that he is always aware of the plans made by his detractors, warning party members in the state against acting as moles ahead of the 2023 elections.

Rivers PDP Behind Wike

In his remarks, the Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, said members of the party in the State are committed to supporting the governor and following his lead.

Akawor stated that the party is pleased with the way Governor Wike has been running the state both in administration and politics.
