The five aggrieved Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) popularly known as the G5 have again stated the only condition for them to work for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The Governors made their minds known on Wednesday evening during an event hosted by Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu to welcome the G5 Governors to his state.
As earlier reported by Naija News, the Governors were in Abia State for the flag-off of the PDP campaigns in the state.
Speaking on behalf of other members of the group, Ikpeazu said some “enemies of progress” are the ones frustrating the party’s quest to win the 2023 presidency.
He however reiterated that despite all forms of attacks and propaganda against them, their stand is for the truth and justice and nothing can shake them.
The Governor added that there is nothing personal about their demand and once the PDP meets their request, they’ll all work for the party.
He said: “We have come under serious attack and very serious propaganda from all quarters but we are undeterred.
“We are determined to stand firm for the truth and soon, as the needful is done, I assure you that all of us will work assiduously to make sure that PDP wins the election in 2023.
“What we are preaching is not about our individual comfort but rather for you to see that we are saying the truth, laying a solid foundation for Nigerians today, and for our children in the future.
“I am an incurable optimist and I believe that soon, the voice of reason will sound in the ears of those who are yet to realise and see the wisdom behind our position and the things we are saying.”
Following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate, the G5 Governors have insisted on the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as the PDP National Chairman and his replacement with a southerner as the only condition to support the party’s quest to win the 2023 presidency.
