Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, is set to make good his promise to immortalize Abba Kyari; the late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari. To this end, plans are currently afoot by Uzodinma to rename the state-owned Imo State University (IMSU); as Mallam Abba Kyari University.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the Imo State governor; Oguwuike Nwachukwu on Monday.
Equally important, the statement revealed that Uzodinma disclosed the plans to rename IMSU after Kyari; when the management staff of the university led by the Vice Chancellor; Prof. Adaobi Obasi paid him a visit at the Executive Chambers of the Imo State Government House.
The governor reiterated his earlier statement that the deceased Abba Kyari played a pivotal role in the liberation of Imo State. Consequently, he held that no gesture is too big for a man who died as a patriot. Furthermore, Uzodinma affirmed that consultations are underway with relevant stakeholders; both in the education sector and in Imo state to critically look at the situation and take a decision.
In addition, the Imo governor urged the management staff of IMSU to live up to expectations; even as he stated that his administration is very committed to quality education in the state; noting that Imo state cannot be left behind.
Indeed, Reported that Uzodinma had earlier vowed to immortalize the deceased Kyari; even as he disclosed that the late presidential aide was instrumental to his emergence as governor. Specifically, he had based his decision on the pivotal roles the late Kyari played; in the emergence of the Shared Prosperity Government in Imo State.
He described Kyari as a hardworking gentleman; who was so passionate about his work.
