UNILAG Lecturer Sentenced To 21 Years Jail Term For Harassing Teenage Applicant

A part-time lecturer at the University of Lagos Afeez Baruwa, has been sentenced to 21 years jail term by an Ikeja High Court for sexually assaulting an 18-year-old female admission seeker.
Presiding over the case today, Justice Josephine Oyefeso convicted Baruwa of the one-count charge of rape brought against him, sayine he had taken the girl through an emotional trauma.
Afeez Bvaruwa had first pleaded not guilty, saying he and the applicant had an agreement and the sexual activity was consensual. Delivering her judgement, however, Justice Josephine said the convict has offended his victim, his family, the society and God.

“The prosecution has proven his case beyond a reasonable doubt. I found him guilty of the charge. I cannot begin to imagine the emotional trauma of the girl.The convict offended his family, the victim, the society and God. Baruwa I hereby sentenced you to 21 years imprisonment Maximum, this is my judgment.“
