The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has been cautioned to desist from taking credit for projects by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Aniocha North Local Government Area of State.

Naija News reports that the call came from a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Chinye Matthew, who has alleged that the said projects, which Okowa claims to have provided for the people of the LGA were funded by NDDC.

Chinye, who is the APC chairman for Aniocha North local government, made this claim at the LGA when the Omo-Agege campaign train visited.

The APC chieftain submitted that “We want to state that the projects governor Okowa said he provided for the people of Aniocha North were funded by NDDC.

“These road projects in Aniocha North remain very important, owing to the fact that many of the dwellers in rural areas are farmers who contribute to the food baskets of the state.

“Okowa should stop taking credits over projects that his administration never awarded, funded, and commissioned in Aniocha North.”

Chinye, also bemoaned the sorry state of the Onicha-Uku/Issele-Uku road, saying the two communities were cut off from each other due to bad roads.

However, in his reaction to the claim, Naija News gathered that the member representing Aniocha North constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Emeka Nwobi, admitted saying apart from road networks funded by the NDDC, Okowa’s administration has funded numerous projects in the council area.

While urging the people of Aniocha North Local Government Council to ignore such claims he described as propaganda and falsehood, he said work was ongoing at the Onicha-Uku Issele-Uku road project, which Okowa awarded and mobilized contractors to the site.
