Remi Sonaiya, the former presidential candidate of KOWA; has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari, over the continued detention of activist, Yele Sowore.
Sonaiya issued this scathing critique via her verified Twitter handle on Thursday, November 14.
She queried the reason some Nigerians were shot by officials of the Department of State Services (DSS); during a protest against the victimization of Sowore.
Meanwhile, operatives of the DSS fired gunshots and used pepper spray to disperse protesters. The protesters gathered around the service headquarters to demand the release of Sowore on Tuesday.
The protesters who were carrying several placards were also rounding up their sit out when the incident occurred.
Convener of the protest, Deji Adeyanju addressed the media. He told them the reason behind the protest. But, then, truckloads of operatives – some with masks – arrived the scene; and chased them away.
On sighting some of the protesters who defied the disperse order, an operative pulled out his service pistol; and also shot several rounds into the air.
Shortly afterwards, another operative used pepper spray to force those who were seated to flee.
Meanwhile, Sonaiya tweeted, “Dear President Buhari. A new day is an opportunity for a fresh perspective on things. Deep within you, is it right for citizens to be shot at? If you freed Mr Sowore now, what would it detract from you? What could it add to you? Please reconsider.”
Dear President @MBuhari, good morning. A new day is an opportunity for a fresh perspective on things. Deep within you, is it right for citizens to be shot at? If you freed Mr. Sowore now, what would it detract from you? What could it add to you? Please reconsider. Have a good day
