It was reported few days ago that all the candidates who are interested in running for the Governorship election in the upcoming elections will be paying the sum of 25 million Naira, and that has been generating a lot of reactions from Nigerians.
The likes of Festus Keyamo and other members of opposition’s parties mocked Labour Party for asking the aspirants to pay the huge amount of money, and the Party has decided to reduce the price.
Labour Party’s chairman Barrister Julius Abure revealed on Tuesday that they have decided to reduce the price in order to give many people the opportunity to buy the forms, and the party has been praised by some Nigerians including Mr Peter Obi.
Mr Peter Obi also applauded the party for agreeing to refund the family of Chief Humphrey Anumudu a Labour Party’s Governorship aspirant in Imo State who died few days ago.
Reacting after Labour Party reduced Governorship form fee to 15 million Naira from 25 million Naira, Peter Obi posted on his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday night that;
“I thank the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barr. Julius Abure, and the NWC for heeding to my appeal, and reviewing the nomination fee for the governorship form downwards to N15m.
I applaud them for also agreeing to refund the cost of the form to the family of a deceased aspirant Chief Humphrey Anumudu from Imo State; and also agreeing to refund N10m to each of those that had paid. These gestures, reflect Labour Party’s responsiveness to the yearnings of Nigerians.”
