PDP congratulates Wike over victory at Supreme Court

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, October 25, in Abuja, congratulated Gov. Nyesom Wike of River, over the Supreme Court judgement that affirmed his election.

The party in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, described the judgement of the victory of Wike as the final triumph of justice and the will of the people over anti-democratic forces.

Ologbondiyan said that the judgment had further strengthened the confidence of the people on the integrity of the Supreme Court.

He said that it had also confirmed the court readiness to correct any miscarriage of justice at lower stages of justice system, particularly electoral cases.

He said that such a fearless verdict was needed at all levels of the justice system to achieve much-needed stability.

Ologbondiyan congratulated Wike and the people of Rivers state for the landmark ruling.

He said that the ruling consolidated the platform for the governor to continue in his commitment towards greater productivity without further distractions from those who do not wish the state well.

Ologbondiyan said it was optimistic that all its stolen mandates would be retrieved so as to save the nation and give Nigerians the purposeful leadership they yearn for at the trying time.

Meanwhile, Wike has declared that his administration would continually partner with security agencies to ensure adequate security in the state.

The governor gave the assurance on Thursday in Port Harcourt when Maj.-Gen. Jamil Sarhem, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, paid a courtesy visit on him.

Wike also assured of his wholehearted support for the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army to carry out military operations tagged Exercise Crocodile Smile 4 to rid the state of criminal elements.

The governor, who urged the military to restrict its personnel to their traditional role of maintaining security, said that he would never be an enemy to security agencies.

“I cannot be enemy to security agencies. Without security, there can be no governance. The Rivers State Government supported the first three exercises; we will support Exercise Crocodile Smile 4.

“We should work as partners. We should not work as if there is a problem. I thank you for coming and hope that this will be a new beginning,’’ he said.

Wike also advised that the military should guard against allowing politicians to infiltrate their ranks and compel its personnel to act outside their traditional roles.
