Nkiru: Family Seeks Reduction Of N100m Ransome

Representatives of the family of Nkiru Sylvanus are currently negotiating with the abductors of the actress, and she will be released soon if both parties reach an agreement.

A source, who craved anonymity, told P.M.NEWS this morning that the kidnappers, who initially demanded N100 million ransom, have slashed the asking price, but the family representatives still want a  reduction.

“The negotiation is on, and hopefully, Nkiru will be released any moment from now. Both parties just need to reach a compromise now,” the source said.

Secretary General of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Abubakar Yakub, confirmed to our reporter that negotiation is at an advanced stage between Nkiru’s family members and her abductors, but said he doesn’t have details of the negotiation.

“I don’t have an idea of the figure they are negotiating, but I’m sure there is progress, so we expect her to be released soon,” Abubakar said.

Following the kidnap of the actress on Saturday night, members of the AGN, South-East chapter, held a rally in Imo and other neighbouring states yesterday.

The Imo rally, coordinated by Barrister Ezenna Agu, AGN’s Vice President, South-East, was attended by actors based in the south eastern part of the country.

During the rally, the actors peacefully marched to the Imo State Government House and other strategic places to express their sadness over the kidnap of their colleague by unknown gunmen.

Nkiru, who is a Special Assistant on Public Relations to the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, was kidnapped alongside two other persons between Concorde Hotel and Cathedral Road, Owerri.
