NCDC reports 87 new cases of COVID-19, 35 deaths, total now 1182

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has announced 87 new cases of COVID-19 in the country.

According to NCDC, as at 11:55pm of 25th April, the agency recorded 87 new cases of COVID-19. Also, it stated that the death toll has hit 35 while 222 persons who recovered from the disease have been discharged.

Equally important, the NCDC disclosed the new cases via its verified Twitter account on Saturday night.

Lagos state remains the frontline of the virus in the country with a record of 33 new cases; followed by Borno with 18 new cases of COVID-19; then Osun with 12 new cases; while Katsina recorded nine new cases.

Other states are Kano and Ekiti which tied with four new cases each; similarly, Edo and Bauchi states had a tie with three new cases each; and finally, Imo state with one record of COVID-19 infection.

 

Furthermore, the NCDC revealed that one of the cases confirmed in Lagos State, traveled to Ondo State for treatment.

Therefore, it confirmed the number of cases in Lagos as 689 and the number of cases in Ondo as four.

In addition, the agency gave a total breakdown of COVID-19 cases in each state.

As at 11:55pm of 25th April, 2020; Lagos has recorded a total of 689 cases; FCT – 138; Kano – 77; Ogun-35; Osun – 32; while Gombe, Katsina and Borno were all tied at 3o cases each.

Other states include: Edo with 22 cases in total; Oyo – 18; Kwara, Akwa Ibom, and Bauchi have 11 cases each; Kaduna has recorded 10 cases so far; Ekiti – eight; Ondo – four; Delta – six; Rivers – three; while Jigawa, Enugu, Niger, Abia, Zamfara and Sokoto have all recorded two cases each.

Finally, Benue, Anambra, Adamawa, Plateau and Imo states all have one case each.
