NCDC records 416 new cases of COVID-19, total infections now 10,578

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday recorded 416 new cases of the COVID-19 in Nigeria.

Equally important, the 416 new cases bring the total number of infections in Nigeria to 10,578. The agency disclosed this via its verified handle on the microblogging site, Twitter.

Furthermore, the NCDC disclosed on Twitter that 3,122 out of the 10,578 total infections have been discharged; with 299 losing their lives. As a matter of fact, an additional 12 patients had succumbed to the COVID-pandemic on Monday in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the NCDC explained that most of the fatalities recorded from COVID-19 were cases with other underlying illnesses; known as co-morbidities. It stated that no new state had reported a case in the last 24 hours.

In addition, the health agency’s data showed that Monday’s new cases were spread across 19 states and the FCT; with Lagos accounting for the highest number of infections for the day with 192 cases. Also, seven other states and the FCT had racked up double figures in new cases on Monday. They include Edo with 41 cases, Rivers with 33, Kaduna with 30, Kwara – 23, Nasarawa – 18; Borno with 17 cases, FCT with 14 and Oyo with 10.

The NCDC had tweeted: ‘‘416 new cases of #COVID19; Lagos-192, Edo-41, Rivers-33, Kaduna-30, Kwara-23, Nasarawa-18, Borno-17, FCT-14, Oyo-10, Katsina-7, Abia-5, Delta-5, Adamawa-4, Kano-4, Imo-3, Ondo-3; Benue-2, Bauchi-2, Ogun-2, Niger-1. 10578 cases of #COVID19Nigeria. Discharged: 3122. Deaths: 299.’’

The NCDC said that till date, 10578 cases have been confirmed while active cases stand at 7157. Also, a total of 3122 cases have been treated and discharged; while 299 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the FCT.

Equally important, the agency revealed that total samples tested so far currently stand at 63,882.
