It was “bad belle” that prevented MKO Abiola from becoming Nigeria’s president- Olusegun Obasanjo
According to a news that was published by the Daily Trust Newspaper online this afternoon, it was reported that the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, today, Wednesday, revealed what he considered as the factor that stopped the Late Chief MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election, from becoming Nigeria’s president.
While he was speaking today, at a lecture titled “Eyin Ni Iwe Wa: You Are Our Epistle,” the centenary celebrations of the Baptist Boys High School, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, he said that it was “bad belle” that did not allow Abeokuta to produce another president of the country.
He said, “If not for Nigerian bad belle, Chief M.K.O. Abiola, would have been the president and with me as president, we would have needed one more old student of BBHS to be the president of this country, for us to permanently locate it in BBHS after three times.”
Further talking, he claimed that without the moral virtues and sound education that were impacted on him by the school, he would not have become what he is today.
