In order to address poverty and insecurity in the state, Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, has created an office on vocational job creation.
The office, which is to be supervised by the Adviser to the governor on Labour Matters, Garba Ngamdu, is to manage vocational training and jobs with a view to strengthening the present administration’s fight against unemployment and poverty reduction.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Communications, Alhaji Isa Gusau, Ngamdu who is now to be addressed as Special Adviser on Labour Matters and Vocational Job Creation, will coordinate all vocational training activities across all ministries in the state.
Note Do not click this link (+18)=Do not click this link (+18)His job schedule include documentation of all trainees, monitoring of all stages of training programmes across all ministries, ensuring regular payment of stipends to trainees, analysing skills acquired by all trainees to determine readiness for provision of necessary tools for take off of entrepreneurship and working in collaboration with the state Civil Service Commission to take records of all new jobs created from May 29, 2011 to date for records and easy reference.
The adviser is also to identify areas where new vocational jobs can be created with a view to creating massive employment opportunities.
In order for the adviser to immediately swing into action, the governor has directed all ministries with trainees of different fields to henceforth work in tandem with the Special Adviser for proper coordination of all vocational activities in line with the schedules of the new assignment while the ministries will continue to handle all financial aspects of the programme as ministerial sponsors but with the involvement of the adviser.
