The Federal Government of Nigeria and the World Bank have approved the appointment of Mr Taiwo Akerele as Technical Adviser (Operations) to the National Coordinator of the post COVID recovery project for Nigeria.
Akerele, a policy economist and author, was coordinator of the World bank assisted SEEFOR project for Edo state between 2011 and 2016 before he was appointed as Chief Of Staff by Governor Godwin Obaseki. The appointment letter was signed by Dr Abdulkareem Obaje of the Nigerian CARES program domiciled at the federal ministry of Budget and National Planning.
In this capacity and portfolio Mr Akerele will oversee specific key result area of the project, offer technical guidance on operations and advice the national coordinator from time to time.
Akerele studied at Harvard University, Carleton University, Stellenbosch University, the World Bank Institute, the University of Ibadan, and the University of Benin and was a Research officer at the Lagos Business school center for applied economics.
Since his voluntary resignation from public service in the year 2020, Mr Akerele joined Policy House International as Country Reps and was elected the FCT Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) in May 2021. He has since assumed duties.
