Coronavirus: Nigeria records 91 new cases, 28 deaths, bringing total to 873

Nigeria has recorded 91 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus, with 28 deaths which bring the total number of infections to 873 in the country.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known via its Twitter handle on Wednesday.

The NCDC also announced that fatalities from coronavirus-related complications have increased to 28.

Out of the 28 deaths from Coronavirus, NCDC recorded 15 in Lagos, three in Abuja; two each in Borno and Edo, one each in Katsina, Kano, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti and Delta

It tweeted, “91 new cases of #COVID19 have been reported: 74 in Lagos, five in Katsina, four in Ogun, two in Delta; two in Edo, one in Kwara, one in Oyo, one in FCT, and one in Adamawa.

“As of 11:25 pm on the 22nd April, NCDC recorded 873 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 197; Deaths: 28.

 

“Breakdown of cases by state: Lagos-504, FCT-119, Kano-73, Ogun-24, Katsina-21, Osun-20, Oyo-17, Edo-17; Kwara-10, Kaduna- nine, Akwa Ibom- nine, Borno- nine, Bauchi- eight, Delta- six, Gombe- five, Ekiti- four, Ondo- three, Rivers- three; Jigawa- two, Enugu-two, Niger- two, Abia- two, Benue- one, Anambra- one, Sokoto- one and Adamawa- one.”

 

Reported that NCDC recorded a total of 117 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday; with Lagos, Abuja – the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Kano accounting for the overwhelming majority.

Lagos racked up 59 new cases, the FCT recorded 29 new cases while Kano hit 14. Furthermore, the 117 new cases took the total of COVID-19 infections in Nigeria to 782.

Other states with reported cases from Tuesday’s updates include Borno – seven; Katsina – four; Ogun – three cases; while Rivers and Bauchi both recorded one new case each.

Specifically, the new figures were confirmed by the country’s disease-fighting agency, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). Equally important, the NCDC made the disclosure via its verified handle on the micro-blogging site, Twitter.
