As the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says the country has the capacity to test 10,000 persons daily across the country.
The Director General of NCDC, Dr ChIkwe Ihekweazu, disclosed this at the Presidential Task Force (PTF) media briefing on Thursday in Abuja.
He noted that while currently, the country conducts about 2,000 tests daily, there is the possibility of doing more.
Speaking about the ease of the lockdown, and the chances of a hike in the recorded cases, he said “As we’ve eased the restrictions and continue to increase testing capacity, it’s likely we’ll see an increase in COVID-19 cases in the country.
“Whether that increase continues or not will depend on our collective action.”
He however, urged Nigerians to adhere strictly to the set guidelines to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
