ACP Kyari offered me N10m to implicate Saraki – Suspect

Ayoade Akinnibosun, one of the main suspects in the Offa bank robbery case, testified before the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin on Wednesday about how the former Commander of the Inspector General Response Team squad, ACP Abba Kyari, tortured him and offered to pay him N10 million and other benefits in exchange for his testimony against former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki in the armed robbery case.

Additionally, he claimed that Kyari had offered to provide him a visa to any nation of his choice if he agreed to back the effort to indict Saraki, but he claimed to have declined the offers.

Police filed court documents accusing five individuals, Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham, Salaudeen Azeez, and Niyi Ogundiran, of committing bank robbery, illegally possessing firearms, and killing nine police officers and other people.

During the tragedy, it is believed that 11 people died and other locals suffered significant injuries.

In testimony given under oath by Mathias Emeribe (SAN), the defense attorney, Akinnibosun claimed that he had been offered N10 million to declare that Saraki had directed them to carry out the robbery operation.

According to him, “He (Kyari) told I should admit and say Saraki was the one who asked us to go and rob,” I assured him that I wouldn’t act in such a manner. that I would sooner perish than lie about an innocent man than risk my life for something I didn’t do.

He requested that I carefully consider his offer. He then gave the order to return me to the cell to two policemen named Hassan and Mashood. They have to quit torturing me, he added, “I’m a separate one, not where others are.

In Ilorin, Akinnibosun claimed he was only permitted to write his biodata before they were transported to Abuja in a tinted bus, where he was then kept in a location known as “Abattoir.”

The suspect claimed that some herders were killed there while he was there, and he also claimed that Saraki was responsible for his torture and leg shot.

“About 15 to 20 of us were brought to Abuja; I barely recognize a few of them. Meals were delivered to us outside, but I was unable to eat them since my hands were immobilized from the torment I had endured at their hands in Ilorin. To feed me, they requested Kunle Ogunleye.

Officer Hassan Attila ordered that they bring some men, after separating the five of us and placing us in the generator house. To bring five Fulani men, they went. In my presence, they brought them and slaughtered them all.

“That wasn’t a movie, I was told. I was requested to extend my legs before he shot my right leg. When I tried to adjust the leg after he shot the second one, it struck my thumb,” he claimed.

The defendant then continued by displaying to the court the gunshot wounds he had received to his legs.

Micheal Adikwu, one of the robbery suspects, was shot and killed in front of Akinnibosun, which horrified him and led him to agree to accuse Saraki in a prepared statement to the media, according to Akinnibosun.

In order to continue the hearing, the case was postponed by the presiding judge, Justice Halimat Salman, until February 13th, 2023.
