Police Arrest Portable After 72-Hour Ultimatum

The police authorities in Ogun State police have arrested singer, Habeeb Okikiola, commonly called Portable after a 72-hour ultimatum given to him to honour police invitation.

In viral videos on Tuesday, the musician was seen raining curses and rough-handling some policemen deployed to the recreational centre he owns in Ogun State.

Portable’s actions have since been condemned by the police authorities with the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, saying the artist exhibited irrational behaviour and hurled insults at police officers carrying out their legal duty.

However, after the expiration of the ultimatum for the singer to hour invitation, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed that Portable has been arrested.

Wizkid Rallies Support For Davido’s ‘Timeless’ Album

Nigerian superstar, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has rallied support for his colleague, David Adeleke, known better as Davido, asking his fans to stream the latter’s new album.

The PUNCH reports that Davido’s much-awaited album, ‘Timeless’, amassed one million streams on Boomplay in just six hours after it was released on the streaming platform on Friday.

The album is also currently the No. 1 album on Nigeria’s Top Albums Chart, UK’s Top Albums Chart as well as in 17 other countries on Apple Music

Davido announced the release of the 17-track album on his social media pages in the early hours of Friday.

Kano Governor-Elect Warns Against Illegal Construction On Public Lands

The Governor-elect of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has issued a warning to the public against engaging in illegal construction on public lands within and around certain areas of Kano city.

These areas include schools, religious and cultural sites, hospitals, graveyards, and the city walls.

Yusuf, who posted on his verified Facebook page, emphasized the need to restore the city’s master plan and protect important public spaces.

He urged individuals and groups to discontinue any construction work on public lands in these areas.

Buhari’s Aide Confirms Petroleum Minister Of State Sylva’s Resignation

The Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad, has confirmed the resignation of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva.

Ahmad, in a tweet on Friday, stated that the minister stepped down to join the Bayelsa State governorship election scheduled for November 11, 2023.

“Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and former Bayelsa state governor, H.E. Timipre Sylva, has resigned his appointment to contest in the next Bayelsa governorship election,” the presidential aide tweeted.
